The Unread Oscar Speech Hellywood REFUSED to hear!

For 200 years, we have said to the Indian people

… who are fighting for their land, their life, their families and their right to be free: ''Lay down your arms, my friends, and then we will remain together. Only if you lay down your arms, my friends, can we then talk of peace and come to an agreement which will be good for you.''

When they laid down their arms, we murdered them. We lied to them. We cheated them out of their lands. We starved them into signing fraudulent agreements that we called treaties which we never kept. We turned them into beggars on a continent that gave life for as long as life can remember. And by any interpretation of history, however twisted, we did not do right. We were not lawful nor were we just in what we did. For them, we do not have to restore these people, we do not have to live up to some agreements because it is given to us by virtue of our power to attack the rights of others; to take their property; to take their lives when they are trying to defend their land and liberty; and to make their virtues a crime; and our own vices: virtues.

But there is one thing which is beyond the reach of this perversity and that is the tremendous verdict of history. And history will surely judge us. But do we care? What kind of moral schizophrenia is it that allows us to shout at the top of our national voice for all the world to hear that we live up to our commitment when every page of history and when all the thirsty, starving, humiliating days and nights of the last 100 years in the lives of the American Indian contradict that voice?

It would seem that the respect for principle and the love of one's neighbor have become dysfunctional in this country of ours, and that all we have done, all that we have succeeded in accomplishing with our power is simply annihilating the hopes of the newborn countries in this world, as well as friends and enemies alike, that we're not humane, and that we do not live up to our agreements.

Perhaps at this moment you are saying to yourself what the hell has all this got to do with the Academy Awards? Why is this woman standing up here, ruining our evening, invading our lives with things that don't concern us, and that we don't care about? Wasting our time and money and intruding in our homes.

I think the answer to those unspoken questions is that the motion picture community has been as responsible as any for degrading the Indian and making a mockery of his character, describing his as savage, hostile and evil. It's hard enough for children to grow up in this world. When Indian children watch television, and they watch films, and when they see their race depicted as they are in films, their minds become injured in ways we can never know.

Recently there have been a few faltering steps to correct this situation, but too faltering and too few, so I, as a member in this profession, do not feel that I can as a citizen of the United States accept an award here tonight.

I think awards in this country at this time are inappropriate to be received or given until the condition of the American Indian is drastically altered. If we are not our brother's keeper, at least let us not be his executioner.

I would have been here tonight to speak to you directly, but I felt that perhaps I could be of better use if I went to Wounded Knee to help forestall in whatever way I can the establishment of a peace which would be dishonorable as long as the rivers shall run and the grass shall grow.

I would hope that those who are listening would not look upon this as a rude intrusion, but as an earnest effort to focus attention on an issue that might very well determine whether or not this country has the right to say from this point forward we believe in the inalienable rights of all people to remain free and independent on lands that have supported their life beyond living memory.

Thank you for your kindness and your courtesy to Miss Littlefeather.

This censored statement was written by Marlon Brando for delivery at the Academy Awards ceremony where Mr. Brando refused a BEST ACTOR Oscar for his famous role in the Godfather. The speaker who was only permitted to speak for 60 seconds spoke briefly of its contents, the speaker that Brando requested deliver the speech was Sacheen [pr: Shasheen] Littlefeather [pictured below].

The Academy, many actors & many actresses in attendance displayed an overt rage & even threatened violence should Miss Littlefeather attempt to read the speech in full or exceed the 60 second limit she was given… John Wayne threatened to storm the stage & drag her off if necessary, he had to be physically restrained by multiple security guards in the wings: John Wayne was a BIG MAN in hellywood & in the movies but he was a weak man, a coward, in reality. The following are the remarks that Miss Littlefeather did make that most disreputable & infamous evening…

Hello.

My name is Sacheen Littlefeather.

I'm Apache and I am president of the National Native American Affirmative Image Committee.

I'm representing Marlon Brando this evening and he has asked me to tell you in a very long speech, which I cannot share with you presently because of time but I will be glad to share with the press afterwards, that he very regretfully cannot accept this very generous award. And the reasons for this being, [unnec: are] the treatment of American Indians today by the film industry [boos, shouting, stamping & some applause] excuse me… and on television in movie reruns, and also with recent happenings at Wounded Knee. I beg at this time that I have not intruded upon this evening and that we will in the future, our hearts and our understandings will meet with love and generosity.

Marlon Brando's Oscar win for "The Godfather"

In 1973, for the first time in history, the Academy Awards show was broadcast by satellite transmission, reaching a global audience estimated to be in the 85 million viewer range. Brando had honorably provided the Native American Community an unprecedented, historic, opportunity; to break through the mass media censorship & inform the American Public & the Global Population of their plight over the last 100 years in their OWN HOMELAND; being delegated to the status of that of a 2nd class citizen, an unwanted, and a resented, people. Resented NOT for their own faults, but because of the unaddressed & unacknowledged deeply seated guilt, carried within the corporate body of their oppressors, those who had done great unwarranted & unjust evil to a whole population then exacerbated that grievous harm in order to continue their self imposed ignorance & myopia of the sins that they had committed, imprisoning themselves in a generational repetition of abuses for the failure to confront this unaddressed original sin. Had the speech been delivered as intended it would have been an Awesome American Moment in which TRUTH spoke directly to the power wielding its oppressive fist & holding it to account with a worldwide audience as witness… instead the censurers carried the day & in failing to meet this effulgent, embryonic moment, and as sadly has happened almost to being a definitive constant throughout our 245 year history of perpetual tragedy & disaster, the opportunity for truth, understanding, peace & reconciliation was consigned to censored silence, lost in the ceaseless & uncaring currents of history.

As you can see for yourselves, reading the trascript of the statement that was CENSORED, above & in the response to Miss Littlefeather in the video of the actual presentation as it occurred- this pretty much demonstrates & proves beyond any doubt & to a moral certainty that the speech was an ABSOLUTELY NECESSITY and very much long overdue… in fact prescient, in its timeliness. Consider the events that have transpired in the wake of the censorship of this speech in 1973, by NOT rejecting censorship great truths remained unspoken, understanding failed to be forged & with that understanding & truth- Justice & Peace continue to elude us 48 years after the fact. Today the censors have become even more deeply entrenched & well established as the New American Norm- having taken over the entire media: lock, stock & barrel… look at the world around you, less than a 1/2 century afterwards, consider with a circumspect understanding how ALL CENSORSHIP kills the TRUTH, and that the death of Justice & of Peace soon follow afterwards. The criminals, traitors & perverts who have usurped lawful power & have established TREASON as the order of the day in America KNOW THIS FOR FACT… what is the reason you remain ignorant & indifferent to this eminent truth?!!? The burgeoning surveillance police state & empire emerging in America & sweeping across the globe will not merely capture the poor, the marginalized, and those YOU consider undesirable & worthy to be shunned and unendingly vilified within its iron grasp… there will not be such distinctions once the GLOBAL EMPIRE & it’s capitol in jerusalem is built- it will be YOUR sons & daughters, YOUR grandchildren who curse YOUR NAMES, for having been handed the blessings of liberty, the inheritance of peace & prosperity in a land of plenty and having squandered it entirely until all is sucked dry leaving only austerity, impoverishment & global slavery, as its depleted infecund & bitter fruits!

March 1973

This story really begins in the last days of February in 1973. On the 27th, 200 Oglala Lakota/ Sioux & A.I.M. [American Indian Movement] members began an occupation of Wounded Knee town, South Dakota [Occupation Flag- pictured above] on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation [Rez Flag pictured below], chosen for its exceptionally historic significance as the location of the LAST tragic scene of conflict in the Indian Wars where a massacre of Chief Big Foot & 300 American Oglala Lakota/ Sioux Indians by Federal Agents took place in 1890, among those slaughtered were many woman & children…

For a people who apparently believe in SELF GOVERNMENT, the GOD endowed RIGHTS of the PERSON, the CUSA restraint on government powers, the full & unfettered manifestations of Democracy & the principia of REAL Republic… could the hypocrisy be of a larger magnitude… RIGHT to LIFE, indeed…

In Congress, July 4, 1776

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpation’s, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security…

CO-INTELLPRO operations against the Native America People were instituted under the POLITICAL POLICE ARM of the STATE: the FBI since inception & the BIA was set-up as the proxy through which corrupt Judas Goats of the Government would be funded to ensure that the Native American People & their land could continue to be exploited by the corporofascists while maintaining the “front” of “self-government”. One such corrupt Judas Goat was named Dick Wilson who had been installed through the BIA & the corruption of the ballot box in the Rez System. The corporofascists & government agents in turn then bankrolled Wilson’s G.O.O.N.S, aka the goon squad: paid Native American [mostly of mixed race ancestry & relatives/friends of gang leader mixed-race Wilson] thugs who ensured that any opposition, persistent activism, attempts at dissent were met with swift & sure retribution, often in the form of murder… murders that were NEVER investigated, committed by perpetrators who were rewarded instead of arrested & prosecuted. Often the murders were committed by the very same people in authority that the victims family would then have to seek answers & investigations from with no avenue of appeal or recourse in Law. The Murder Rate on the Rez in the wake of the events referenced in this story were 50 times greater than in the worst cities in America at that time… there would be NO JUSTICE for a single one of the victims or their families except the SAME INJUSTICE dressed up as lawful authority & Justice, dispensed at the hands of the very SAME federal oppressors albeit with their Judas Goat puppets to act as a facade of “respectability” & “legitimacy” to cover up the festering disease of corruption & inequity. When peaceful means of removing Wilson & his junta aka the corrupt stooges of the Federal Agents & Agencies ensuring that Tribal Lands could be pillaged for pennies on the dollar by the corporofascists through the buying off these tribal turncoats all failed, the Oglala Lakota/ Sioux brought in their militant membership, the leadership & activists of A.I.M. & along with the great & fiercesome Native American Leaders Russell Means & Dennis Banks… a 200 member strong organization of uncompromising Native American Soldiers dedicated to defending the LIFE, LIBERTY, & PROPERTY of the Native American People as well as their GOD endowed RIGHTS of the PERSON one of which being their RIGHT to autonomous SELF GOVERNMENT, not a government of stooges operating under direction of Federal Agent Judas Goat Proxies working on behalf of the corporofascists & working against the interests of the Tribal People & in truth, all of the American people as a whole: for how is it that we can ever be considered a JUST people unless our relations with the Native America People are colored by Honor, Decency, Fair Play, & Respect instead of lies treachery deceit theft & murder!

In “response to the occupation” the Federal Agents & Agencies responded immediately [as the pre-planning had been completed long in advance] surrounding the area for 15 miles in all directions & bringing the numbers & force of an entire army into the operations. By the time the snipers had done their black deeds two Native American People were dead & another Black Activist who had joined the protest was missing… a marshal was wounded by the defensive response with the small arms carried by the AIM & Oglala Lakota/ Sioux. For anyone interested there are multiple sources that describe the ordinance & logistical armament brought to bear against the defenders of the Native American People’s rights, liberty, land & desire for self government. Fair to say many countries have been overthrown with armies possessing less firepower than was brought to bear against 200 NATIVE AMERICANS in the UNITED STATES thrown off of their OWN LAND confined in the Rez System & NOT even permitted to have for themselves an honest self government to look after what little of their land remains to them & their political aspirations & interests, or any investigations for the murders taking place almost on a weekly basis throughout the system… IOW: A TOTAL & COMPLETE DISGRACE for anyone who believes in our Declaration of Independence, apparently our founding principles, & our CUSA Supreme Law of the Land!

Fortunately, through the heroic & courageous efforts of honorable & good hearted Americans like Marlon Brando an unstoppable rising public awareness [no thanks to Hellywood] ensured that greater loss of life would not again drench that small humble remaining sacred portion of Native American Land as it had in 1890 when Chief Big Foot, his loyal foot-soldiers & unimaginably- dozens of woman & children were mercilessly slaughtered, in a satanic orgy of human sacrifice, an ablation offering to the false god of greed, hubris & ignorant ambition. The Church, in this matter, proved itself worthy, as the clergy played an exceptionally large role in making the PLANNED FOR & TOTALLY INTENDED repetition of the ignominious massacre of 1890 politically unfeasible & morally indefensible even in the minds of the tyrants planning for just that- another massacre… we have thereby in this, found for ourselves a CASE STUDY in what IS & IS NOT possible under censorship & in the wake of its FAILURE. Had the censurers succeeded in their intents generally as well as they had in their specific object at the Academy Awards- massacre in South Dakota would have been assured, and all of history a decrepit senescent silence.

Negotiations had centered around Dick Wilson & his G.O.O.N. squad being REMOVED, a demand for investigations into corruption & murder in the Rez System and a desire to re-open treaties & investigate all of the previously broken treaties between the Native American People & the United States Government past & present... though anyone with a shred of decency would consider such terms totally reasonable & a minimum standard, these terms were considered unacceptable to the spokesperson & acting point man for the tyrant oppressors continuing to demand that the indigenous people accept complete dispossession & ethnic cleansing of their peoples’ from their homeland contentedly, grateful for whatever cornbread crumb is thrown their way as a generous though unnecessary appeasement from the government appointed masters of their Rez Plantations set up in their OWN HOMELAND.

After over 70 days, the standoff came to a peaceful, though as far from amicable as it was from judicious, conclusion.

Although the censorship deficiencies did inhibit the planned & intended eradication of all the members of AIM in attendance, any Rez activists who continued to push their totally judicious claims, or any opposition to the BIA puppet Judas Goat Dick Wilson’s facilitation of the continued rape of the Rez Lands on behalf of the corporofascists under the assumed penumbrae of a total media blackout during the 10 week South Dakota occupation… tragically, between 65- 75 people associated with AIM, Rez Activism, & dissent from the egregious BIA anti-stewardship, would be murdered over the subsequent 5 years following these events, including the three known casualties of the Pine Ridge Standoff itself. It is obvious in hindsight what the results at Pine Ridge were intended to be, and had there been instead ZERO censorship & 100% support from Hellywood & everyone else… who knows instead of resorting to murdering the opposition slow over the subsequent years following the standoff, perhaps the day could have finally arrived when we all really did:

“… hold these TRUTHS to be SELF-EVIDENT, that ALL men are created EQUAL, that they are ENDOWED by their CREATOR with CERTAIN UNALIENABLE RIGHTS, that among these are LIFE, LIBERTY and the pursuit of Happiness…

That TO SECURE THESE RIGHTS, Governments ARE INSTITUTED among Men, DERIVING THEIR JUST POWERS FROM THE CONSENT OF THE GOVERNED…

That WHENEVER ANY FORM OF GOVERNMENT BECOMES DESTRUCTIVE OF THESE ENDS, IT IS THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO ALTER OR TO ABOLISH IT, and TO INSTITUTE NEW GOVERNMENT, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, AS TO THEM shall seem most likely to effect THEIR SAFETY and HAPPINESS…”

In 5 short years we will arrive at our 250th Anniversary as a country & supposedly a UNITED people, the United States is hardly even recognizable as a Republic any longer… unless the censorship ends & the people generally & genuinely become concerned about the TRUTH & REAL JUSTICE, the United States will NEVER celebrate it’s 300th Anniversary guaranteed, police state & empire are already established, our GOD given RIGHTS of the PERSON entirely extinguished, unlimited & unchecked power accepted as a given… puppet presidents come & go & even when they are overtly exposed as liars, criminals, traitors & perverts… they are above the Law… the innocent are persecuted to DEATH & those in power brag openly that they are untouchable & have blanket immunity no matter the egregious nature of their crimes or their volume… how is this NOT exactly the SAME british-jew system that was supposedly overthrow & driven off the continent in 1776?!!?

Because we call the tyrant a policeman instead of a knight, because we call COTUS members reps & senators instead of earls, because we call the POTUS mr. president instead of KING, because we call them a judge instead of LORD…

What matter is it we have different names for the SAME rank & corrupt disease?!!?

Does a disease kill less if we give it a different name? Absurdity of absurdities.
